The Bags: The hemp/cotton bag comes in a three colours – blue, green and coral: RRP £14.85. The rubber bag: RRP £32.
The Retailers: Only independent ethical retailers may join the scheme. They stock the bags and offer a discount to anyone who shops with one in their stores. Retailers pay an annual membership fee of £48.
The Consumers buy the bag and then sign up to receive a free monthly e-newsletter with information about shopping ethically and locally.
The Founders: Faith Simpson is a teacher and this is her second business venture. The first was an educational dance company with an ethical stance: performing works and producing resource material based on ecological and sustainability issues. She has also studied design and anthropology.
Dr Hugh Willbourn is co-founder of a qualitative market research company, Corr Willbourn Research. He has written a book on negotiation for the BBC and has co-authored a series of self-help audio and video recordings – and a bestselling book – with Paul McKenna.
