- Shop local and independent – you’ll have much more chance of finding unique and beautiful presents and it’s a lot more fun than traisping around a department store.
- Make something! Sloe gin, Christmas biscuits and chocolates, knitted scarves and socks… Find your ingredients, materials, and plenty of inspiration at Bags of Change shops like Knitshop. Remember what the artist Michel Seuphor said: “Make something, produce something, each day…”.
- Think of food miles! Buy British, seasonal and local when planning your festive meals.
- Take your Bags of Change bags with you for discounts on your shopping, plus save on plastic and packaging. They’re very sturdy and comfortable to carry.
- Remember that “half of the waste produced by households at Christmas could easily be recycled, but last year almost 90% ended up in the dustbin” (Friends of the Earth). The message is re-use and recycle, and don’t forget to feed your compost or wormery.
- Did you know that if you buy a real Christmas tree, your council may be able to recycle it into wood chip mulch?
